An instructional designer partners with clients to consider organizational goals. When a learning solution is the best approach, instructional design makes fluid use of learning theories, models, and technology, starting with the desired end in mind. On a practical level, instructional design requires considering user experience, as well as media and information design principles to create effective learning materials. Sometimes, the required solutions support informal and self-directed learning and performance support. Sometimes, solutions require more structured approaches.
Instructional design is agile design.
